Tampa Bay Lightning vs Dallas Stars

The Tampa Bay Lightning continue their roadtrip to Dallas, Texas against the Dallas Stars Sunday January 18th, 2026 at 1:00 pm puck drop. The Lightning enter the game after a heartbreaking loss in a shoot out vs the Blues. The Stars on the other hand come into this game on a 2 game losing streak.


The Lightning currently sit at the top of the standings in the Atlantic division with a record of 29-13-4. The Dallas Stars currently sit in 2nd place of the central division in the Western Conference with a record of 27-12-9. This game should be fairly similar to their first matchup of the season back in October.

This will be the final matchup of the regular season between the Lightning and Stars. The Lightning were able to win the first game in Tampa against Dallas in overtime. However the first game between both teams was back on October 30th,2025. The Lightning were able to secure the win on a breakaway by Anthony Cirelli.


The Dallas Stars are a very good hockey team with numerous players who are at the top of the league in scoring. Mikko Rantanen leads the Stars in scoring with 63 points so far on the season. Jason Robertson is not far behind Rantanen in points with 56 on the regular season. Wyatt Johnston not too far behind with 53 points on the regular season.

There have been changes in both teams since their last meeting in October. The Lightning will be without core pieces in Sunday’s showdown being Brayden Point (lower body), Victor Hedman (Elbow), and Ryan Mcdonagh (undisclosed). The Dallas Stars will be without Tyler Seguin (lower body) and Lian Bischel (lower body). There was speculation that Miro Heiskanen may not play due to a personal matter but it looks as though he’ll play in Sundays game.


At the current moment it looks as Jake Oettinger will be in net for the Stars. Jake Oettinger is 17-9 with .903 save percentage and a 2.68 goals against average. The Lightning will most likely have Jonas Johansson in net. Johansson is 10-6 with .896 save percentage and a 2.73 goals against average.
